The Second Factor

Point-and-Click

If you’re a fan of point-and-click adventure games like I am, Rob Gilbert (the GOAT in this genre) announced yesterday that they started production on Thimbleweed Park 2 coming out in 2028. This is a follow up to the first Thimbleweed Park (2017), which itself is a spiritual successor to previous games Maniac Mansion (1987) and The Secret of Monkey Island (1990). The Monkey Island series is where my love for the genre first started. I vividly remember playing and beating them in the 90’s, eagerly waiting for the next game in the series to come out. If you’re new to point-and-click adventure games and looking for someplace to start, you can’t go wrong with this classic series. After that, you can try out the first Thimbleweed Park (which at the time of writing is currently on sale for $5), and the more recent (and excellent) “The Drifter” which I’m currently playing through on the Nintendo Switch 2.
